Hotel Azzi promotes the exhibition “The treasure rooms. Collectors’ wonders in the florentine museums.

Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Museo Stefano Bardini, Museo Horne, museo Stibbert, Fondazione Salvatore Romano, Museo Bandini, museo di Palazzo Davanzati, Museo Casa Rodolfo Siviero.

The initiative regards the museums that house the most beautiful Florentine antiques collections: Bardini, Stibbert, horne, Volpi and Romano, whose names are derived from the antique dealers who created them as well as the history of the antique trade. For this occasion, these museums, veritable jewel cases that still retain intact the beauty of their original furnishings, have housed exhibitions and new settings and have extended their opening hours. The hub of the initiative is the exhibition in Palazzo Medici Riccardi that tells the story of those Italian and foreign antique dealers, passionate collectors, tycoons and scholars, who lived in Florence between the 19th and the 220th centuries where they bought villas and palaces to turn them into true “treasure rooms”.

The Tuscan that is healthy

Difficult to imagine, even for a moment the Tuscan landscape without our olive trees.
In fact, the olive tree has always been the undisputed protagonist of this territory and its precious oil extracted from fruits always manages to tell the unique heritage of wisdom, smells and tastes of the most authentic Tuscan tradition.

A such healthy tradition that already well before its virtues very scientifically acclaimed, such as the  high antioxidant activity given by the rich presence of polyphenols, making it particularly suitable in the feeding of children, made extensive use of Extra Virgin Olive Oil in its  most characteristic and famous gastronomic specialities,  both as a remedy widely used in popular medicine as well as in beauty treatments.

It is precisely to protect this heritage of values and to ensure the quality and authenticity of the product that since 1997 more than ten thousand farmers, who cultivate more than one hundred and fifty thousand acres of Tuscany over six and a half million olive trees, are grouped under the Consortium for the protection of the Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil “IGP”.

And this is the only body able to award Extra Virgin Olive Oil “IGP” Toscano recognition. A certification stating that all stages of production, from cultivation and harvesting of the olives and their pressing to bottling, are carried out exclusively in Tuscany and that the chemical, physical and organolectic quality of the product complies with the parameters required by the rigorous Production Regulation.

Villa bardini is a 17th century villa built on a design by the famous architect Gherardo Silvani. With scenographic hedges, flowerbeds and plants, the garden unwinds down the slope of the Costa San Giorgio hillside, offering a breathtaking panoramic view over Florence. After having been acquired by the Mozzi family, in 1913 the complex became the property of the antique dealer Stefano Bardini, whose name it bears.
